Wind-energy discussions often begin with megawatts and annual generation. Grid integration asks a broader question: how does the generating equipment behave when the electrical system changes? Frequency, voltage and fault response are part of that assessment.
A directly connected synchronous machine has rotating mass coupled to grid frequency. Its inertia influences the initial response to a disturbance. Reactive-power capability and excitation control are also relevant to voltage behaviour, although the available response depends on the machine and its operating limits.
The connection design must therefore be considered alongside the requirements of the network operator. A feature described in a technical publication does not determine the result for every project. Machine characteristics, protection settings and site-specific studies remain important.
